Natural Ayurvedic Home Remedies for Genital Herpes

Of the two types of herpes symptoms, genital herpes is the most serious. Genital herpes is an infection which affects the genital area, and is caused by the herpes simplex virus. This is a highly contagious condition, which can be spread through kissing, or sexual contact. Symptoms of genital herpes include open sores, small red bumps, and blisters in and around the genital and rectal areas. One may also suffer from itching and pain in the infected area.

The herpes simplex virus degrades the immune system, which leads to a weakened immune response, in general. Ayurveda has a few simple home remedies that give you relief from these symptoms.

Black Tea

First remedy: dip a black tea bag in water, then place the bag on the infected area for about 5 to 10 minutes. The tannic acid in the tea provides relief from itching. Do this procedure 3-4 times a day.

Second remedy: dip a damp cotton ball in baking soda. Liberally apply the cotton ball on the infected areas so as to coat the entire surface, then leave it on the sore. This dries out the infection, and relieves itching. Use cotton ball or pad only once to avoid spreading the virus.

Third remedy: apply aloe vera gel on the genital sores for about 15 minutes, twice a day. Do this by taking one aloe vera leaf, peel off the skin of the leaf by carefully using a knife, then extract the gel from the inside. Aloe vera  is also useful as a solution to how to get rid of cold sores caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 .

Fourth remedy: Ice – apply ice directly to the herpes lesions. You are able to control swelling and pain through this method. Don’t overdo the ice application since it can hurt sensitive skin and tissues.

Fifth remedy: aromatherapy can be employed against genital herpes.  Essential oils from these herbs are helpful in lessening genital herpes symptoms.  After taking a shower,  the oil lessens the herpes breakout and lessens  pain.

Sixth remedy:  vitamin and mineral therapy. Try taking take 2 grams of Vitamin C or equivalent once a day. Dietitians recommend increasing one’s intake of beta-carotene since it boosts your body’s immune system, thus increasing protection from virus infection.

Changing your diet is also helpful in curing genital herpes. Restrict consumption of  too much  dairy products, fish, meat, eggs, baked items or bread.  Rather, increase consumption of vegetables, and fruits.

All these remedies are ways that have been proven effective as a review of how to get rid of herpes. Just be persistent and eventually the symptoms will disappear.
