How to get a website online

You have three options for getting a website online:

  • upload using FTP software (e.g. Internet Explorer)
  • publish using SiteBuilder
  • publish using FrontPage Extensions.

Important: You can only use one of these at a time per domain name. If you try to use more than, you may lose files or damage your website.

Upload your website with FTP

FTP allows you to drag and drop files from your computer to your web space.

Each domain on your account has its own FTP username and password, allowing full access to that domain's web space. You can also create new FTP users, each with their own level of access.

Once you've chosen the FTP account you want to use, log in using your favourite FTP software and upload the website files to your web space's htdocs folder.

Note: You must upload the website to the domain's htdocs folder. The website's home page file should use one of the default document filenames supported by our servers.

Publish your website using SiteBuilder

SiteBuilder is our easy website creation tool. It allows you to create professional websites without HTML or design skills.

First, you need to activate SiteBuilder on your domain name.

  • Please open a ticket if you want to add site builder to your account

Once you've logged into SiteBuilder, you can find help by clicking the yellow question-mark icon in the bottom-right of the page.

When you're ready to publish your website, click the Publish to web icon, in the bottom-right of the screen.

Once SiteBuilder confirms that it has published the website, visit the domain name in your web browser to check that the website is as you intended.

Publish your website using FrontPage Extensions

If you have used Microsoft FrontPage to create your website, you can publish it directly to your web space.

First, you need to activate FrontPage Extensions on the domain's web space.

  • Please open a ticket if you wish to add FrontPage Extensions

Once you have activated FrontPage Extensions, follow FrontPage's instructions on publishing your site.
